Moving CVs from Gmail archive to CatsOne

We have an address for people to mail CVs. This address is forwarded to gmail and used by our recruitment. I needed to forward all of the CVs residing in that mailbox to Catsone. I didn't want to do it manually by individually forwarding each message or using the Outlook toolbar.

I solved this by using a gmail filter and label combined with Thunderbird and an addon.

1. Create the following filter in gmail and apply a label
TO: vacancy@domain.com
From: -domain.com *** We also use the mailbox for sending messages to the recruitment team.
Subject: -RE: *** Don't do anything with replys
Message: cv OR resume
has attachment
2. Configure Mozilla Thunderbird to access the gmail box via IMAP.
3. Install Mail Redirect add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/550
4. Open the label created in step one and select all messages
5. In Thunderbird select Message - Redirect and enter the resume@COMPANY.catsone.com

NOTE: Make sure to use an SMTP server that will not block you after sending X messages. Gmail seems to allow about 600 in a day.

Ryan,

Excellent tips. I can imagine many users wanting to do the same thing that you have done.

@Ryan: Excellent! I guess we could use gmail's superb filters to route resumes into CATS and save a lot of trouble. Tahnks for pointing in that direction. You just saved me a couple of hours a day :))
