Saving Created Fields

Hi
If I'm creating new fields in my web application, and wanting to view those in the database, I need to save them to, I presume, a 'standard field'. However, these cannot be modified/added to.
Please advise what to do,

Erma,

You can create custom fields in the Settings -> Customize Extra Fields location. After you create them, you can choose them from the Save To: drop-down field in your application.

 

I've done exactly that, Tony. However, these 'customised' fields dont show up in the 'standard fields'
Where am I going wrong?

Right. That is because they're not "Standard" fields. The first group of fields in the Save To: drop down of your application questions will be Standard fields that are included in CATS by default, the next group are EEO-1 questions, and the third will be Custom Extra Fields that you have created. I have verified that I can see all 3 of the custom fields that you have created for your candidates.

 

Ok, great. However, if I want to view all these fields in the database, when I click on a candidate, these extra fields are coming up as blanks... because they've just saved to 'application view only' (and not to a standard field).. that's what I'm trying to fix - as this info is what I really need to view... Thanks, Tony.

The change will only impact future applicants. The system can't go back to the old applications that are filled out and put the data into the custom fields you've created.

 

Tony, these fields have been in place from the start - all fields are mandatory, therefore the info is sitting somewhere - I see this info in the emails coming through, confirming the registration of candidates.

My question really is... When I go to 'SAVE TO' only the standard fields show there, hence the only option for saving these is 'application view only' (or something like that) for the added customised fields. I'm not understanding how these 'customised fields' end up in the 'SAVE TO' drop down menu. What / where do I action this please? Thanks for your assistance, Tony.

Even if the custom fields have been there for some time, without them being set to in the Save To: drop-down, the info would not be saved in those fields.

Now, if they say "Application Only", that means they are in the candidates profile, but in the HTML version of the application they filled out. This can be found by going to any candidate's profile that has applied through your careers page and scrolling down to the Website Applications section and clicking the Preview icon with a magnifying glass next to it.

If you set the Save To: drop-down to one of your custom fields, any future applications filled out will have that specific question saved to the field you chose, and it will still be in the application found in the paragraph above.
